Our concert program for our April Concert under Maestro Parker Bixby has just been announced and I for one am pretty excited! We will start out with a concert classic – Bernstein’s Overture to Candide. Next up is a beautiful piece I was not too familiar with but have been listening to over the past few days – Paris Sketches by Martin Ellerby. Then we have Riften Web by Julie Giroux. We played one of her pieces earlier this year and it was really gorgeous. This one is inspired by the video game Skyrim. We’ll round out the first half with Lewis Norfleet’s bombastic masterpiece, Shogun.

I personally am most excited about performing Orff’s entire Carmina Burana after the intermission. This is a masterful band transcription by John Krance. This work is on my list of Must Go when I see it on local concert programs and I love Krance’s arrangement for band.

This concert will be popular I expect. Get your tickets early!
